De Ligt asks for time and patience as he contemplates transfer move
The Ajax captain spoke to the media after the 3-1 victory over England, where he scored, and said he needed time to make a decision
Holland and Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt spoke to the media following his country's 3-1 victory over England in the Nations League semi-final. Naturally talk centred about his own plans once again. "I'll take my time to consider which is the best option for my future."
De Ligt, who gave away a penalty in the first half before scoring the equaliser for Holland in the second, wasn't about to break the promise he made earlier and said a decision would be revealed on Monday.
"The tackle which resulted in a penalty (for England) was a really stupid one and I know that all too well. I received the ball and was trying to play it back to Cillessen but I was late. It was really stupid because I shouldn't have given the ball to the keeper. But I set high stands for myself and I had to make up for that error."
Holland will take on Portugal this Sunday in the Nations League final. Then, on Monday, de Ligt will announce his next club.
