Since he hung up his boots, Carles Puyol has gone down many different routes inside the world of football. One of his first major roles was to work alongside Andoni Zubizarreta at Barcelona, although that ended abruptly after just three and a half months because Zubizarreta was sacked in January 2015.

Since then the former Barcelona captain became a football agent, working alongside another ex-footballer in Ivan de la Peña and a lawyer, Ramon Sostres. Footballers such as Marc Bartra, Bojan Krkic, Carles Aleña, Eric Garcia and Adia Bernabe are on the books of the company but they can no longer count on the services of Puyol, who has decided to take his career in yet another direction.

Carles, according to those who know him well, never felt comfortable portraying the professional profile a football agent is supposed to have. And, as you'd expect from someone like Puyol, he was honest and said 'enough'. From now on, alongside other irons he has in the fire, he'll dedicate more to to his role of being an ambassador for both LaLiga and UEFA.
