Carles Alena shows his commitment once again

Carles Aleñá had considered his time at Barça B over, when they gave him the chance to start his first year in the first team with matches for the reserves. Despite understandable initial doubts, and after being well advised by his representative, Iván De la Peña, he understood that having a place in the second team was the best option while he recovered from the injury suffered in the last match in the Second Division last season.

The club assured him that nothing had changed in the plans they had for him. That's what the sport management said, with Pep Segura leading the way, but also the coaching staff, with Ernesto Valverde. Alena gained pace competing with Garcia Pimienta’s team until the Valverde decided that his moment had arrived when the Copa del Rey started. He was the best Blaugrana player coming on from the bench against Cultural Leonesa and a call up in the four subsequent matches, playing even against Betis at the Camp Nou.

It seemed that his time at Barça B, this time, was over. But again this weekend Alena showed his unwavering commitment to the club and did not hesitate to accept, again, a return to the B team to play, taking advantage of the international break, to play at the Mini Estadi against Cornellà.

Aleñá started and led the team to victory after four consecutive matches without winning (three in the league and one in the Copa Catalunya). The midfielder played the ninety minutes showing an impeccable attitude. Despite being fouled throughout he was booked at the end of the game.

Carles Aleñá is demonstrating, not only with words, but also with deeds, that he is committed to the maximum with Barça and is willing to arm himself with patience to triumph at Camp Nou. Even if this means having to take a step back when circumstances require.
