The midfielder completed a permanent switch to the Madrid-based club this weekend

After his transfer to Getafe was confirmed, ending his link with Barcelona following two loans in recent seasons, Carles Aleña used social media to say goodbye to the club of his life and its supporters.

The midfielder from Mataro has not been able to break into the first team regularly at Camp Nou and will not take the next step of his career in Madrid with Getafe,

"16 years at Barça... it's not easy to say goodbye to somewhere that has been my home," Aleña's emotional post began.

"I have been lucky and I can only say thanks from the bottom of my heart. I have no words. I'm a cule for life. I will always want the best for Barça."

Aleña accompanied the comment with two photographs, one when he was coming through the club's La Masia academy and another scoring a goal for the first team, against Villarreal in 2018.

Barça replied wishing him luck and past and present players from the Catalan club all sent well wishes, such as Sergio Busquets, Riqui Puig, Umtiti, Eric Garcia, Marc Bartra, Juan Miranda, Junior Firpo, Sergi Gómez, Gerard Gumbau and Abel Ruiz, among others.
