Capello criticised "static" Barça who continue to depend on Messi

The Italian coach spoke about the 1-1 draw against Napoli on Tuesday

After the 1-1 draw between Barcelona and Napoli in the Champions League on Tuesday, former Italy coach Fabio Capello analysed the game for Sky Italia.

One the performance of Quique Setien's side at the San Paolo, Capello commented on the team's lack of mobility and their dependence on Lionel Messi to pull a rabbit from a hat.

"Barça were very static," he said. "They were waiting for Messi to turn the light on."

Later, the former Milan and Real Madrid coach, among others, again went back to the influence of the Argentine on the Catalans: "Barcelona are tied to Messi's genius."

The Italian also praised Napoli's performances: "I like this Napoli because they play with a lot of humility. [Coach Genaro Gattuso] prepared the game really well, giving almost nothing away to the opponent."

However, he criticised Jose Callejon, who missed a great chance when his second-half shot was saved by the impressive Marc ter Stegen in the Barça goal.

"You cannot miss those sort of chances," Capello said, with the two teams to meet in the return leg of the last 16 tie at Camp Nou on March 18.
