Cancelo delighted to make Barça debut after deadline day signing

The right-back came off the bench in the win over Osasuna after joining from Man City

Joao Cancelo made his debut at El Sadar in the Barcelona shirt, replacing Sergi Roberto in the 58th minute of the 2-1 win over Osasuna.

The Portuguese full-back signed for Barça on Friday, was presented on Saturday and has now had his first minutes on Sunday.

"I'm very proud to have made my debut for Barça. It's a big achievement for me," said Cancelo, on loan from Manchester City, after the game.

Cancelo then spoke about the match, sealed by Robert Lewandowski's late penalty, and was delighted with the three points.

"It was a really complicated victory," he added. "My teammates had already told me that it was a very difficult stadium and that's how it was."

Of his first few days as a Barça player, he said: "They've welcomed me very well. It's a good group. I'm sure that with this group, we can do great things."

The full-back is now away on international duty with the Portuguese national team coached by Robert Martínez. Portugal play two matches during the international break against Slovakia and Luxembourg.
