Barcelona reach agreement to sign Azpilicueta on a free transfer
The Chelsea defender is out of contract in the summer
Barcelona have reached an agreement to sign Cesar Azpilicueta on a free transfer when his Chelsea contract expires, according to the journalist Gerard Romero.
The former Osasuna defender has struck a deal to return to Spain next summer with Barça following a decade in London with Chelsea, where he won the Champions League last season.
Azpilicueta, 32, is an experienced defender who has recently returned to the Spain team. He can play across the back four but is primarily a right-back.
If confirmed, Azpilicueta would become the third signing under new coach Xavi following the arrivals of Dani Alves and Ferran Torres.
