The Catalan club want to sign the Valladolid right-back, who is currently with Spain U19s

Iván Fresneda is the number one candidate for Barcelonna's right-back position, as SPORT reported a few weeks ago. The Blaugrana are clear that the young player from Real Valladolid is the ideal specialist for the role and there is total consensus at the club to move for him if possible. Barça have already officially informed the player of their interest and next week they will begin negotiations with his club to discuss a possible offer -- very calmly, as Barça want to pay the right price.

The Fresneda operation began in mid-June when the Catalan club's sporting department informed the player's entourage of their interest. From then on, the player prioritised Barça over all the other options on the table and the club has been able to work with more peace of mind. There will be no problem reaching an agreement with the player over a long-term contract, but the negotiation with Valladolid remains to be tackled.

The idea is to start talking next week. Valladolid only know about the interest from the player's agents but there has been no contact between the two clubs. The player's termination clause is 20 million euros, but Valladolid have no official offer above that figure, or even close to it. And Barça are aware of that.

Barça want to lower the starting price ostensibly by including the loan of an interesting young player and also a contract based on objectives. It will be necessary to negotiate, but the chances of an agreement are high because Valladolid need to sell and Fresneda knows that he is facing the opportunity of a lifetime. In recent months he has received interest from Milan, Dortmund, Arsenal and several other Premier League clubs, but Barça is the option that most attracts him.

Barça are also relatively calm because the full-back starts his participation in the U19 European Championship in Malta today. He could be there for two weeks, until 16 July, so there is plenty of time to reach an agreement.
