A swap deal involving Kessie could be back on the table in the summer

Marcelo Brozovic was close to joining Barcelona in the January transfer window as part of a swap deal with Franck Kessié, which did not come to fruition because the Ivory Coast international did not want to leave Camp Nou and because Inter Milan were asking for some money in the operation.

The Croatian midfielder has all the cards to leave calcio this summer, though, and the Catalan club continue to maintain contact with his camp according to 'Corriere dello Sport'.

Brozovic is considered a complete player with great international experience. In January, Barça felt that his contribution could improve on that of Kessié because of his style of play and, for that reason, they were in favour of trying an exchange that had Brozovic's full OK but could not be completed.

Barça are well aware that Inter are still pushing to take Kessié from June, but they have no intention of letting him leave on loan with an option to buy. That is why they only see feasible an exchange with an Inter player and Brozovic would fit in terms of valuation and sporting needs.

Inter, who were more reluctant to let him leave in January, could now be open to explore this avenue as the Croatian's relations with the club are not at their best. Chelsea and Real Madrid are also reportedly interested in the midfielder should he be forced to leave Inter.
