Barcelona would have liked to get Haaland in 2023
The Norwegian forward is the hottest name on the transfer market going forward
Erling Haaland’s future may be decided too soon for Barcelona. The Catalans want him badly but it’s clear they cannot financially compete with Man City and Real Madrid for him. It would have suited them if he waited at Dortmund a year and came to Camp Nou in 2023 but that is not probable or even possible. Barcelona know he wants to change clubs this summer, so their offer to him is for June.
The Haaland operation is expensive. The total cost could be over 200 million euros between transfer, commission and contract.
The president, Joan Laporta, says that Barcelona will not enter into any operation that risks the club’s economy.
Haaland is studying the three final proposals and in April will explain his future. Along with Kylian Mbappe, wherever he goes, it will be one of the most exciting deals of the summer.
