Barcelona now know cost of Joao Felix loan: Between €7 and €8 million

| sport

The Atletico forward has already expressed his desire to join Barça this summer

The Joao Félix operation is still on the table at Barcelona. He is a player who is of interest, as the club admits, but for now no definitive steps have been taken as they are waiting for some departures at the end of the transfer window.

According to the journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the final cost of the operation could be between €7 and €8 million, which would be the player's salary without additional loan payments. This would be the figure that is being considered so that an exit from Atletico Madrid can come to fruition.

The numbers have been put forward by the player's agent, Jorge Mendes, who has been trying to make the deal happen for weeks despite Barça asking for patience.

The club is now focused on registering the players who so far have not been able to join -- Marcos Alonso, Íñigo Martinez and Iñaki Peña -- and on departures. The exits of Clement Lenglet, Sergiño Dest and perhaps one more player in the attacking area is needed to be able to deal with this addition.

Joao Félix has already informed Barça of his intention to wait for the club until the end of the transfer window. He wants to play for Barça and is discarding proposals from the Premier League and Saudi Arabia to continue his career there.

The Portuguese international is convinced that in Xavi's Barça he could recover his best football and that he would have the necessary ecosystem to become a top-level star.

Atletico are starting to get desperate as they will have to sign a replacement for Joao Felix if he leaves, but they need to release his wage and it is already clear that this is going to be resolved at the end of August and beginning of September, so it would almost point to the last day of the market.

Mendes has some aces up his sleeve such as Wolverhampton or Benfica for Joao Felix, but the player, in principle, does not want to play for either of these two teams.

Barça insist that they have only gathered information about Joao Felix. He is a forward who is liked because he is different to everything else in the squad, but at the moment he is not a priority operation until there are no sales or transfers.

No formal steps have been taken with Atlético and will not be taken until we know if he can fit within the team's salary limit. The first thing is to sign a right-back and then we will know if Joao can come.
