Barcelona make contact with Dembele's agent to restart negotiations
The French winger can leave for any club he likes at the end of the season for free
Ousmane Dembele’s deal with Barcelona ends on June 30, 2022 and everyone knows it. Negotiations broke off in January but could restart in the coming days.
The player’s people already informed Barça through SPORT that they would be open to returning to negotiations if the club calls them again. And we have leaned that the club have spoken with Dembele’s agent Moussa Sissoko to restart conversations and are hoping to find a midpoint.
They were far apart in the winter, with Dembele’s people wanting top money for him while Barcelona hoped he would take a paycut. The Gavi, Araujo and Sergi Roberto situations are similar in a way.
If a deal is to be reached, both sides must be flexible. Some of the bad feelings from the past must also be forgotten.
The sporting situation has changed too. Dembele is happy with Xavi, who is bringing back a winning spirit to the dressing room and team. He has also backed the winger from day one. The Frenchman has returned that confidence with goals and big performances.
Dembele has also stayed fit and firing and he is integrated into the dressing room, with his team-mates wanting him to stay.
For now there is no new offer on the table but it is being worked on. Negotiations could begin in earnest soon.
