INCIDENCIAS

Partido correspondiente a la jornada 14 de LaLiga Santander disputado en el Camp Nou ante 63.208 espectadores.

Only poor finishing from the Catalans stopped them extending their lead at the top of La Liga by more than one point, with Lionel Messi at his majestic best, but his team-mates unable to convert the chances he created.

Celta went ahead early on when they broke Barcelona’s offside trap and Aspas squared to Maxi Gomez, whose effort was stunningly blocked by Ter Stegen—but the ball fell to Aspas who notched his fourth goal in four games against Barcelona.

That happened in the 20th minute. By the 22nd, Barcelona were level. Paulinho set up Messi, and although Luis Suarez tried to intervene and failed, the Argentine was able to fire home past Ruben Blanco.

Messi dazzled, bamboozling the Celta Vigo defence at times, but it only led to one more Barcelona goal, early in the second half when his pass found Alba, who cut the ball back for Suarez to ram in.

Barcelona had the chances to extend their lead but instead it was Celta who levelled, with Iago Aspas blazing down the right—leaving Samuel Umtiti injured in his wake—and setting up Maxi Gomez who finished well.

There were chances before the end for both sides, with Pique hitting the post after being played in by Messi, and Ter Stegen denying Pione Sisto, but eventually Juan Carlos Unzue brought a point back to Vigo from his old hunting ground.
