The Catalan club have carried out several initiatives this week following the earthquakes

Nearly 40,000 people have already been killed in the earthquake that has struck Turkey and Syria, although the number will continue to rise as the days go by. The catastrophe is of Dantesque proportions and the world, slower than would be advisable, is waking up and showing its solidarity towards both countries.

Barcelona, who have already reacted with several initiatives, also wanted to do their bit at La Cerámica before Sunday's match at Villarreal.

The players from both teams were photographed next to a banner that read "every minute counts". On the Barça side, Xavi Hernández's squad took to the pitch wearing a T-shirt with the message "Suport víctimes Turquia i Síria (support victims Turkey and Syria)".

Before the match, the stadium held a minute's silence in remembrance of the humanitarian catastrophe that these two countries are suffering. The Villarreal players also wore a T-shirt with the slogan "we stand with you, Türkiye and Siria".

On the other hand, the Barça players also wore a black armband in memory of former Blaugrana Marcos Alonso, father of the current Barça defender.

However, the minute's silence to remember him will be held at Camp Nou, as in Villarreal the tribute was for the Turkish and Syrian victims.
