Barça striker Sergio Aguero in hospital for a cardiologic analysis

The former Man City man suffered from chest pain in the 1-1 draw with Alaves

Barcelona confirmed that Sergio Aguero was taken to hospital on Saturday for tests on his heart after experiencing chest pain in the draw against Alaves.

Aguero was taken off shortly before the break at Camp Nou. Fortunately, he was able to walk off the pitch having been attended to by medics.

"Sergio Aguero was struggling with chest pain for much of the first half and was replaced by Philippe Coutinho at halftime and then taken to hospital for a cardiologic analysis," Barça said in a statement."

Barça also revealed defender Gerard Pique strained his calf in the 1-1 draw as injury problems continue to mount for interim coach Sergi Barjuan.

The statement added: "In the second half, Gerard Piqué pulled the soleus muscle in his right calf and will need tests to determine the full extent of the injury. Clement Lenglet took his place for the rest of the game.

"These are busy times in the FC Barcelona treatment room. Sergi Barjuan was already working with limited numbers for today’s game, with all of Ronald Araujo, Frenkie de Jong, Martin Braithwaite, Ousmane Dembélé, Pedri, Sergi Roberto and Ansu Fati unavailable for selection."
