Wenger hopes he will renew but those hopes are slim

Ozil and Alexis Sanchez could leave for free next summer

Arsenal will make one final attempt to keep German playmaker Mesut Ozil before the transfer window opens. If they don't manage to achieve their objective, they will put him on the market to try and make some money from him.

The Sun say that Arsene Wenger's priority is still to convince Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, two key parts of his team, to accept longer contracts. But he is aware that the club may have to accept offers in January if they don't sign renewals.

NegoTiaTIONS UNDERWAY

However, until now both the German and the Chilean have been reluctant to commit. As for Ozil, he has been linked with Premier League rivals Manchester United and also with Barcelona. The Catalan club have him as an alternative to Philippe Coutinho.

Wenger has put his faith in the negotiating skills of Raul Sanllehi, who has joined the club from Barça -- but he doesn't officially start until February.

In fact, Wenger's most recent quotes even said that neither player will leave the Emirates in the winter.

THE DOUBTS

But at the club's offices, the directors don't see things as radically. If in the coming weeks there are no new contracts agreed, from Jan. 1 Ozil and Sanchez can negotiate with who they want. Therefore, some at the club would be keen to sell, because from June they will be allowed to leave for free.

If Arsenal don't agree renewals with the duo, then, they must listen, at least, to offers from other clubs.

In Ozil's case, one of the candidates is Barça, who will have to decide how much Ozil is worth in January, remembering that he's out of contract and available for free next summer.
