Arnau Tenas's representatives deny he's renewed with Barca

| sport

The representatives of former Barcelona B goalkeeper Arnau Tenas have refuted claims that the Catalan goalkeeper has extended his contract. Despite previous reports stating that Tenas would remain with the Catalan club, the player himself had recently confirmed his departure.

On Thursday, 29 June, one day before Tenas' contract was set to expire, FC Barcelona changed their initial stance and decided to renew the goalkeeper's contract. The intention was to subsequently loan him to a team in the top flight, with the loaning club expected to contribute a portion of the 1.5 million euros that Tenas would receive per season as a first-team player.

However, the player's representatives swiftly clarified the situation, asserting that he has not renewed his contract. They believe that Barcelona can no longer activate the automatic two-year contract extension, as the deadline for doing so expired on June 15. Consequently, Tenas and his advisors insist that Barcelona will now have to negotiate with him like any other club if they wish to secure his services, as his contract officially expires on Friday, 30 June.

Currently, Arnau Tenas is participating in the European Under-21 Championship as a part of the Spanish national team. He has played very well and is the starting goalkeeper for Santi Denia's squad, which will compete in the quarter-finals of the tournament against Switzerland on Saturday.
