Angel Di Maria appears on Barcelona radar again per Tuttosport

Angel Di Maria has been rumoured to be a Barca target for years, but his arrival has never really taken off. The Argentine international is finishing his contract with Juventus and has a renewal offer from the Italian side but has not yet signed on. Tuttosport claim that Di Maria could be thinking about other options such as returning to his country or trying to join Barca, who are looking for a top-class left winger for next season.

Di Maria had already offered himself last season just before the end of the season at PSG, where he left on a free transfer. At the time, Barça considered signing him but eventually ruled him out because there were other priorities and because he was considered too old. However, at Juventus he has been a starter throughout the season and has contributed four goals in Serie A and four goals in European competitions.

Barça and Xavi want a pure winger on the left flank for the next sporting project, but the number one option is Yannick Carrasco. The Blaugrana club is considering going for a top winger if Abde does not stay in the squad, although it would be strange if Di Maria were to arrive. What is certain is that the Argentinian has a great relationship with Leo Messi, a player that Barça want to bring back this season so that he can retire at the highest level at Camp Nou.
