Carles Aleña has taken responsibility for the poor results

He says the players have to improve in the New Year

Carles Aleña is not someone who hides. The midfielder from Mataro is very clear that the situation at Barcelona B is complext and delicate, but he says the players must take responsibility.

After losing to Albacete on Tuesday, Aleña didn't offer any excuses, nor did he blame the referee, despite the fact a clear penalty wasn't given for a foul on him in the last minute of the 1-0 loss.

"We have to improve things, but is, the team, we're responsible. We know that we're not doing well. It's the players' fault, not the manager or anything else, there's not a good dynamic," he said in the mixed zone.

Despite that, he's still positive that things can be turned around: "The second half of the season will be tough, but we have to be self-critical and start with ourselves. To improve our play, create more chances... Teams score against us easily, while we have to do a lot to score."

On a mental level, he says "we are used to this, to this experience. We're pissed off and we're hurting about how we've ended [the game] because the hard work has not been reflected on the pitch, but we're responsible."

EMPTY mini

Not even the fact the Mini is nearly always empty served as an excuse, although he asked for the fans to step forward. "Yes, its true. It's a shame to see the Mini so empty. And more when you go to grounds and you see 30,000 people supporting their team. But it's not just now, it's always. I tell [the fans] to come and, even though it may not seem like it, their help would be huge."

SIGNINGS NEEDED?

On the possibility of signings in January, Aleña doesn't think it will be necessary: "I don't think we need reinforcements. We're not short of players, managers or directors... We're the ones to blame, we're the ones that have to get started. If there are additions, then great, but I think the team is strong and can pull out of this situation."
