Al-Ahli sign Barça midfielder Franck Kessie until 2026

Franck Kessie's time at FC Barcelona is over; as we have been reporting, the Ivorian is leaving for Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli for a fee of around 15m euros

Franck Kessie will leave FC Barcelona in the next few hours. The Ivorian midfielder, who is currently in France, has passed his medical and will sign a new contract with Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli until 2026.

The African player had been on the exit ramp all summer, but the proposals from Italy (Juventus were very interested) and England (Tottenham) did not materialise.

Although the former Milan player initially preferred to stay in Europe, finally the insistence of Saudi Arabia was key and he will perceive a salary twice as much as his current wage, about 20 million euros per year. He will also bring in 15m euros to Barça's transfer chest.

Reports in France suggest that Al-Ahli's first choice was Sofyan Amrabat, but that they have finally had to go for Kessie after repeated refusals.
